R&M CONSULTANTS, INC. (R&M) is a well-established, employee-owned multi-discipline Alaskan professional services firm. Since 1969, R&M has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging infrastructure projects. Originally founded as a geotechnical firm, R&M is an industry-leading provider of geotechnical, geological and environmental services throughout Alaska. We offer these services to a variety of clients, including the AlaskaDepartment of Transportation & Public Facilities, Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility, U.S. Army Corps ofEngineers, Alaska Railroad Corporation and many municipal governments.
R&M is seeking an environmental geologist to support expansion of our Earth Sciences Department. The successful applicant will support contaminated site and geotechnical investigation work. Working in an interdisciplinary environment that includes dedicated environmental, planning, engineering, geological, geospatial and construction services professionals, the successful applicant will provide services in the areas of subsurface investigation and site characterization, chemical sampling, material site assessment, geologic mapping, engineering geology, aerial photo interpretation, planning, budgeting and executing environmental and geotechnical site investigations, technical report writing and data analysis.

The successful applicant will be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The environmental geologist will report to the Group Manager of Geotechnical Engineering and Geology, and to SeniorGeologists and Geotechnical Engineers on a day-to-day basis, depending on project team structure.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in geology, geological engineering or a closely related discipline. The ideal candidate will be a geologist with 2 to 3 years of professional experience, have a working understanding of ArcGIS, and qualify as an ADEC Qualified Environmental Professional. The successful applicant must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal abilities.
The position requires travel throughout Alaska, and the ideal candidate must be willing to work in project locations throughout the state for extended periods of time, in all seasons. Applicant must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be ready to perform physically demanding field work in remote settings as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
