About the Team
The Strategic Finance team within RA Capital helps inform investment decisions and improve core processes with data-driven analyses. The team focuses on three core areas: portfolio management, risk management, and data analytics. The team operates on a wide variety of projects in a fast paced environment; often collaborating across teams and working directly with senior leadership & portfolio managers. This role works closely with our Commercial Analytics team, which focuses on leveraging healthcare data to identify and understand trends and support our commercial investment team.
As a Junior Associate within the Strategic Finance team, you will be working on various qualitative and quantitative analyses that require you to:
  • Collect, clean, organize, and store both structured and unstructured data to support analyses.
  • Design, develop, and validate models and analyses leveraging Python and SQL, including creating powerful visualizations that deliver new insights to senior management.
  • Understand and communicate the potential impact of analytical findings to broader StratFi and Commercial Analytics team members to pressure-test analytical findings and consider alternative options to answer broader open-ended business questions.
  • Continuously track, pressure test, and refine our understanding of data quality for key forecast inputs and commercial analyses by working closely with the vendor and broader internal team to improve performance.
Key Skills
  • Ability and desire to learn about new data sources, analyses and tools and how they can inform our work across programs/products in various disease areas.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems, troubleshoot potential issues and come up with solutions with guidance from broader teams.
  • Proficient in SQL and Python.
  • Ability to analyze financial and healthcare data sources and draw conclusions about the strength, quality and implications of the data with guidance from the broader team.
  • Ability to convey clear and concise ideas and thoughts through both written and oral communications, including written memos, oral presentations, and intuitive visualizations.
  • Ability to juggle multiple business requirements to meet high priority needs and deadlines, recognizing and communicating proactively when additional support is needed.
  • Ability to identify and analyze trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions within RA.
Requirements
We are looking for curious, intelligent, and driven individuals with a strong interest in financial markets and data analytics that are capable of delivering results in a timely manner and at the highest levels of quality. All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have a Bachelors (or higher) in a STEM or finance/economics degree
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Excel and at least an intermediate knowledge of python and SQL.
  • Must be curious, flexible, and able to adapt quickly to changing projects and priorities
  • Must be based in Massachusetts or willing to relocate.
