What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpenter position at Rabren General Contractors?
The Carpenter is responsible for performing standard to moderately difficult tasks that involve installing, building, and repairing structures, fixtures and other items at RGC job sites, in accordance with RGC Best Practices. The Carpenter will work in a safe and highly collaborative manner with all workers on the job site, including subcontractor employees and other RGC employees.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
- Plan and perform standard to moderately complex tasks to construct, erect, install, or repair structures such as door and wall frames, hardware, doors, trim, etc.
- Work and study the specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine materials required and dimensions needed to complete a task
- Work with materials such as concrete, steel, plastic, wood, drywall or fiberglass
- Use of power tools such as tape, saw, drill, level, nail puller, nail gun and other tools and materials required for completion of the job
- Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections
- Perform any job specific related work, as apparent or assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- 1-4 years experience working in the construction industry
- Experience operating required hand and power tools
- Continually drives for results, strives for improvement, creates trust with character and action, teams up successfully, solves complex problems and builds other people.
Preferences:
- Valid Driver License
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Communication skills in Spanish
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a construction job site setting.
Physical Demands:
- Able to work significant portion of day outside on construction site
- Able to walk or stand for long periods of time
- Able to lift/move up to 70 lbs.
- Able to deal with the physical activities associated with a construction site (stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist)
- Able to work at elevated heights
- Able to navigate work areas under construction
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Standard day and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend hours are required as the job duties demand.
Travel:
Travel to other RGC job sites and to RGC offices is required.
