Accounts Payable Specialist

Join our Finance Team at Racker! Help support Racker's mission and vision as an Accounts Payable Specialist, located in our Ithaca, NY location. Full time (37.5 hours).  This position works closely with both the finance team and all programs to administer the accounts payable function for the agency. Join us today!

Rate of pay is $19-$23/hour, depending on experience. Position is fully benefits eligible.

Responsibilities

• Codes such items as invoices, vouchers, expense reports, check requests, etc., with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system.
• Handles all vendor correspondence via phone or email
• Prepares purchase order requisitions.
• Attaches the corresponding purchase orders to incoming invoices with all supporting documentation.
• Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders.
• Prepares batch check runs, wire transfers, and ACH transactions.
• Process remittance information from checks, drafts and wire transfers for invoices provided by vendors, reviewing instructions accompanying items to determine proper disposition and crediting accounts in accordance with standard procedures.
• Organize and maintain documents to support credit card purchases and record purchases in accounting software.
• Receives, researches and resolves a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification:  3-4 years accounts payable or general accounting experience; minimum HS diploma or equivalent; AS degree preferred
• Skills/Abilities:  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to form interpersonal relationships within Racker and the community we support; problem solving skills, strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task; open to change and willing to learn new skills; ability to follow up on pending issues and meet deadlines; function as a team player.
• Knowledge: In addition to education requirement candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel, experience with Dynamics (Great Plains) preferred, but not required.
• Physical:  Ability to operate standard office equipment.
