Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Recreation and Wellness, the Health Educator serves as a member of the professional team for the department and act as an integral part of the FitWell team.
This position is charged with creating experiences with a diverse student body in mind, including all activity and ability levels. This position is responsible for the coordination of health education, promotion, wellness services for students. This position utilizes assessment data regarding students’ health behavior and understanding of current health issues, best practices in the field, and supervisory input to assist in development and implementation of campus-wide health promotion activities, prevention campaigns, and fitness programming, utilizing peer programming strategies. Develop measurable objectives for evaluations of all efforts.

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with professional staff, faculty, and students.
- Demonstrated experience in college campus, corporate, or community health education program development and implementation.
- Knowledge of risk management, student engagement, event planning, presentation or teaching skills.
- Candidates must possess strong computer skills, social media experience and writing/speaking skills.
- Must be eligible to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist ( CHES ) exam within first year of employment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion and student development theory.
- Master’s degree in community health, counseling, social work, public health education, exercise science, or related field; or equivalent education and work experience.
- Experience developing and implementing health and wellness education programs directed toward college age populations, including managing peer health and fitness groups.
- Work experience with a focus on programs/initiatives to reduce high-risk behaviors.
- Experience working with college students in a diverse setting.
- Current Certified Health Education Specialist ( CHES ) and NCCA certification in fitness.
- Demonstrated grant-writing skills.
- Experience with research and data collection/analysis.
