In 2019, Wind Point Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm, acquired a controlling interest in U.S. Nonwovens. Later that same year, U.S. Nonwovens acquired Soluble Packaging Solutions, which is North America’s largest independent manufacturer of unit dose packaging for dish, laundry, and other categories.

Job Summary

The Shipping Team Leader, “Shipping Team Lead”, oversees a group of warehouse workers who pick, stage, confirm, records outbound shipments, prepare case pick items for shipping, and loads and unloads trucks. This Team Leader is also responsible for overseeing the inter-departmental transport of materials to in-line operations. The Team Leader is considered a working associate with limited authority for personnel actions that validates and coordinates the work of others on a logistics support team. This Team Leader suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other warehouse associate members and has thorough knowledge of warehouse transactional processes.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversees and coordinates activities of assigned workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.
• Supports compliance for shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, seals for loaded containers, and truck doors.
• Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
• Directs movement of shipments from storage work zones (rack and bulk) to ship stage work areas and outbound docks.
• Compiles records of any unfilled orders for the shipping period.
• Posts weight and shipping charges and prepares bills of lading.
• Trains new warehouse associates.
• Respond to complaints and queries concerning inventories and products
• Carry out inventory control to ensure inventories are at optimal levels
• Report and analyze data and present results to the Shipping Supervisor and Warehouse Manager as necessary
• Ensure compliance of the distribution center operations with company policies as well as federal, state and location laws.
• Spends at least 80% of time on the warehouse floor.
• Will perform other job tasks, as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
