Position Summary
Full-time, Monday-Friday, dayshift position primarily at our Jefferson St location. Occasional coverage at our Rio Rancho location in rotation with other MAs.
Provides support services to patients, radiologists, and technologist staff.

Reports directly to the Clinical Services Manager

Typical Physical Demands
Work may require stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies, occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. Work is performed in an office environment that involves frequent contact with staff and patients.
Typical Working Conditions
Potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the radiologist and technologist with invasive procedures including completion of paperwork, obtaining patient history and consent, setting up procedure trays, assist during procedure, oversee specimen processing, and post procedure follow up with patient.
- Assist the technologist and radiologist by serving as liaison for patients receiving results from imaging and procedures to include taking patient histories, scheduling procedures and facilitate appointments as directed by the radiologist.
- Confirm prior imaging exams are accessible for comparison prior to scheduled procedures.
- Research scheduled exams in all modalities.
- Perform PenRad entry, place images in the correct order in PACS and scan documents into the appropriate system.
- Perform venipuncture and intravenous access for contrasted imaging exams.
- Assist with MRI breast positioning and provide chaperone services for patients as needed.
- Assist with scheduling procedures via outside referral.
- Assist with scheduling and facilitating post-procedure consultations.
- Assemble biopsy packets and forms prior to the patient appointment.
- Escort patients to the appropriate gowned waiting area and consult rooms.
- Collaborates with and supports Presbyterian healthcare systems as needed.
- Assist with Patient and Facility Coordinators tasks, including laundry, as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Performance Requirements
- Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist with patient care.
- Ability to acquire working knowledge of RIS system, EPIC EMR, PACS Change (McKesson), Qgenda, PenRad and scheduling software.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to use telephone, fax machine, scanner, copier, and other similar equipment typically used in a physician office setting.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Skill in taking vital signs.
- Skill in maintaining records and recording test results.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to identify problems and to communicate clearly.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program.
Experience
Knowledge of medical terminology. One year of experience in a medical or radiology office setting preferred. Computer experience required.
Certificate/License:
Preferred: current certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants or registration through American Medical Technologists.
Current CPR certification or obtained within three months of date of hire.
