What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at Rafter's?
Servers must provide for the organized, consistent and timely performance of all aspects of the restaurant. Though working independently, servers must communicate closely with other staff members to ensure timely and efficient production of alcoholic beverages, food service, and general operations. Servers are under the direct supervision of the Server Manager/Head Server and upper level management. Must be approachable, customer service driven and cooperative in dealing with both staff and guest issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
TEAM MEMBERSHIP
Shows up for all scheduled shifts on time, dressed appropriately and ready to work.
Prepares glasses for beverage orders (ice, garnish, and appropriate liquids).
Continually cleans and sets up station by wiping down and setting tables, refilling condiments, wiping down chairs, lights over tables, miscellaneous décor, and sweeping floor.
Ensures that safety and sanitation standards are maintained.
Sets up, maintains side duties, and closes Server station (e.g. condiment unit, dessert area, dressing unit, glass washer, stock reach-in, rolls silverware, etc.)
Maintains a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
Upon completion of shift, checks in with manager on duty before leaving establishment
GUEST SERVICE
Greets guests at their table quickly and in a friendly manner.
Checks with guest(s) within two bites after each course is delivered to the table, responds to guests needs, and determines when meal has been completed.
Delivers food and beverage orders, with appropriate garnishments and condiments, to guests.
Continually cleans away any unwanted dishes, glasses, and / or debris from the table.
Delivers beverages within reasonable amount of time after ordering.
Provides friendly, courteous, and attentive service to all guests.
Checks back with guests within two bites after each course is served.
Receives no guest complaints.
COMPLIANCE
Understands, performs, and adheres to our Responsible Beverage Service.
Requests and verifies proof of legal drinking age for all guests, who appear to be under the age of thirty ordering alcoholic beverages.
Discontinues alcoholic service and / or informs MOD of potentially intoxicated guests.
Complies with all company and unit policies and rules.
PROFIT & LOSS
Rings up guest checks, accurately and completely, on POS system.
Processes guests’ payments and provides accurate change within a reasonable amount of time upon completion of the meal.
Have no shortages or overages regarding the handling of monies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior restaurant experience preferred
Must be at least 18 years of age.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Comfortable bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and moving quickly
Able to work a variety of shifts- nights, weekends, and some holidays
Working knowledge of sanitation procedures
Knowledge of all state, federal and corporate regulations pertaining to alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of the shift and remain calm during heavy volume periods.
