RailPros provides comprehensive consulting services for the rail industry.  We specialize in areas of RWIC/railroad flagging, project management, observation and inspection, real estate, rail design and engineering, training, and media production.  As a leader in our industry, RailPros’ projects create long-term value for our clients from concept through operation by providing technical excellence and outstanding services.  We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing team!

The Staff Accountant is involved with daily corporate accounting activities, including month end close and the annual audit, and assisting the controller, using Oracle NetSuite.

Primary Duties:

• Actively participate in the monthly financial close process and ensure work is complete in accordance with close schedule.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries for accruals and variances.  Initiates adjusting entries so that financial data is accurately reported.
• Handling accounting and maintaining the company’s fixed assets including depreciation.
• Records all cash receipts and disbursements in the general ledger daily and monthly review of outstanding check list for stale checks.  Participates in automating the cash posting process.
• Record payroll journal entries and monthly payroll accrual.  Participates in automating the payroll transactions into NetSuite from Paycom.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
• Adhere to accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP
• Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting. 
• Minimum 3 years of accounting or related experience, including month-end close responsibilities
• Proficiency with e-mail and Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel capability  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a multi-environment or at an engineering, architecture, or construction company preferred 
• Experience using Oracle NetSuite accounting software.
