What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Brewer/Bar Manager position at Railroad Blues?
As the Head Brewer and Bar Manager, you will develop and brew our core range of beers and several seasonal beers and manage the bar and employees, along with the daily duties of management. You will be responsible for overseeing the bar and brew system in the management of the fermentations, packaging, and bar duties. You will be responsible for the quality of all beer produced, working in conjunction with the marketing team and owner. The Head Brewer and Bar Manager is a high-level role and involves making purchasing decisions, meeting with customers and other businesses, creating new types of beer, setting production goals, and managing resources. The Head Brewer is highly experienced with the beer brewing process and is ultimately responsible for the quality of Railroad Blues beers. Not only will you be involved in creative decisions including what kinds of beer to produce but you will play a key role in sourcing the best raw materials for each beer and leading the production process of these beers. This project will be ongoing with many other unique opportunities for the new Head Brewer to experiment.
Responsibilities
You will report directly to the Owner and Marketing Team and be accountable for the brewing and bar operations of Railroad Blues with the following key responsibilities:
- Management, supervision, and development of all beers and the brewery/bar.
- Brewing operations as prescribed by the approved factory production schedule and preparing associated production records:
- Ensure brewing is carried out in a safe, efficient, and timely manner that meets Railroad Blues quality standards.
- Ensure the records of the bar and brewing are kept, e.g. brews produced, usage, wastage, and that these are recorded into the business record keeping system.
- Sanitation and preparation of brewing equipment, oversight of fermentation and packaging of beers. Performing process control checks and monitoring results to ensure quality standards are met.
- Drafting of weekly production schedules of brews and for employees.
- Support the innovation pipeline for beers.
- Performing monthly stocktakes of factory-stored materials and consumables for beer production and communicating to the Owner any stock-holding risks to mitigate interruption of factory operations.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the company’s manuals and handbooks.
- Participate in the continued development of quality assurance programs.
Position Requirements and Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in brewing beer
- Demonstrated ability to manage a beer production line
- Mechanical and engineering experience
- Experience managing projects
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer literally and technological skills
- Excellent project m management skills and methodical nature
- Extensive experience in cellar and brewery operations including the operation of all associated plant and machinery.
- Proven ability to produce brews, in an efficient, safe, and timely manner.
- Experience in innovating and developing new products.
