About Rainier Valley Birth & Health Center
Rainier Valley Birth & Health Center (RVB&HC) is a nonprofit entity with locations in South Seattle and Renton, Washington. We improve parent and infant health outcomes through midwifery-led, community-based, reproductive and pregnancy care for BIPOC families in the Greater Seattle Area. We also provide well-being, family planning, and general health services across the lifespan. Pregnant clients have access to the birth of their choice, whether it be at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital. Our care is largely grant funded so that all clients receive access to the same options for their care, regardless of insurance type or ability to pay.
We take a collaborative and comprehensive approach to providing individualized wrap-around care to clients. Our care teams include midwives, nurses, doulas, mental health counselors, lactation specialists, and partner physicians. We support clients to learn healthcare and systems navigation. All visit types are built around a strengths-based approach and are designed to meet the client’s goals for their health and well-being. Clinicians and staff interact with kindness, generosity of spirit, and an investment in learning with, from, and about colleagues, clients, and community partners.
Our organization supports the professional development and family orientation of its staff as demonstrated by flexibility around educational needs and where possible, flexing hours for providers and staff to build a balanced life where they are present for their families while fulfilling the responsibilities of their jobs. Where possible, staff are encouraged to use a hybrid model of in-person and remote work.
