The Nautical Group is a retained search firm partnering with clients to identify and recruit outstanding individuals capable of serving in key disciplines. We are currently assisting Raleigh Concrete in the search for an Accounting Manager. Raleigh Concrete provides commercial and residential concrete products and services throughout the Triangle area. Raleigh Concrete is an entity within Sanchez Brothers Masonry. Sanchez Brothers Masonry is the parent company of Raleigh Concrete LLC, Fortress Cement Inc, and Standard Concrete Pumping LLC.
The Accounting Manager for Raleigh Concrete will be responsible for overall accounting oversight for the business as well as Sanchez Brothers Masonry and its entities, including but not limited to: accurate and timely general ledger and technical accounting, management of billing, collections, accounts payable, oversite and development of the accounting team, all review and tax matters, budgeting and forecasting, implementation and development of a scalable system and internal controls. This role is a key business liaison for the organization.
Responsibilities include:
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting, including internal management reporting, and external reporting for covenants and other business partners as required
• Assist with annual budget preparation, monthly forecasting, strategic planning; analyze financial results to determine recommended cash flow and operational and sales actions to meet goals
• Lead monthly financial close and reporting process
• Research technical accounting matters and prepare recommendations with respect to implementation of new or newly applicable accounting guidance
• Lead the Company’s annual financial audit as well as other audits as required
• Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual review and filings for tax compliance matters are completed on a timely and accurate basis
• Work with leadership and other business partners regarding business systems implementation/upgrade, including vision for cost center structures and chart of accounts
• Establish, execute, monitor, and enforce appropriate internal controls and policies and procedures
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation enforcing adherence to requirements filing financial reports and advising management on needed actions
• Maintain financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required; MBA and/or CPA credential is a plus
• Minimum 3 - 5 years’ relevant experience and leadership required
• Strong background in technical accounting, financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting, cost accounting and financial management
• Strong construction background, versed from prior experiences in understanding cost, standards or rates, and evaluated opportunities to leverage profitability
• Highly motivated, energetic, self-directed individual with good analytical and problem- solving skills including root cause and risk analysis methodologies
• Diverse experience with financial systems
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, maintain attention to detail and recognize time constraints
