Position Summary :
Prepares sterile instruments and supplies and issues same using established sterilization methods.
Prepares all sterile supplies and equipment for safe use throughout the hospital daily.
Prepares and maintains all floor stock equipment daily as needed
Performs all appropriate biological testing of processed instrumentation sets
Performs all cleaning and disinfecting duties in the Central Sterile Department daily
Issues and maintains a complete requisitions system for restocking supplies
Participates in departmental and facility quality assurance / improvement processes
Reports to : Chief CSS Technician
Qualifications
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certification as Central Sterile Services Technician or equivalent preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
One-year background with surgical instrumentation preferred. Basic knowledge of sterilization equipment / techniques and understanding of microbiology preferred.
