Tax Manager, SALT

Position Summary

The Tax Manager manages the Company’s compliances for business state and local tax filings, tax registrations and deregistration, ensuring other-business related filings are completed timely.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead state tax & local compliance processes and liaise with external service providers.
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of all local state returns including franchise, sales & use, property, and other business-related filings.
• Manages business state & local tax registrations and de-registrations.
• Work with outside tax preparer on providing financial information for calculation of annual income tax provision and coordinating PBC requests for preparation of annual income tax return.
• Assist with new market launches and business acquisitions
• Act as a subject matter expert for all state and local income tax matters as they relate to the business operations.
• Assist with state tax provision and preparation of SALT related accruals, journal entries, and related account reconciliations.
• Primary point of contact for tax notices and audit requests
• Continuously look for ways to improve processes to optimize accuracy and efficiency
• Collaborates with Finance and Accounting on tax and accounting issues impacting the Company’s financials

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
• 5 years' related experience
• Must have proven experience in a fast-paced environment, with keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Working knowledge of financial statements, general ledger and trial balance, daily and monthly reconciliation of accounts
• Ability to work well both independently and in multi-functional teams
• First-hand experience with tax determination engines.
• Strong time-management skills with the ability to multitask concurrent priorities in an organized manner.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead cohesive and productive teams.
• Experience with NetSuite Accounting Software or other similar systems is a plus
