Director of Finance

Position Summary:

The Director of Finance is responsible for managing the accounting operations of Rancho Solano Preparatory School including budget, analysis, auditing, and the production of periodic financial reports. Responsibilities include statutory reporting to state and federal agencies, maintenance of a thorough system of accounting records, and adhering to a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, confirm the accuracy of the school reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role will supervise and manage staff responsible for both accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Director of Finance will work closely with school leadership and staff to ensure sound fiscal and accounting compliance procedures and to provide input regarding organizational operational effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the organization's fiscal function and performance.
  • Participates in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partner.
  • Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
  • Develops credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to support senior leadership in performing their responsibilities.
  • Enhances and/or develops, implements and enforces financial policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Provides technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
  • Advises Leadership of budget account balances; resolves problems and discrepancies; and makes revisions as necessary, in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring accuracy and full compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
  • Optimizes the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiates appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  • Develops a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting process which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Acts as an advisor from a financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter.
  • Oversees the accounting and finance team, including but not limited to the Accounts Receivable Manager and Accounts Payable Manager.
  • Responds to non-urgent communication within 24 business hours and urgent communication within two school hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience; education industry experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite highly desired
  • Computer and technology literacy
  • Basic arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Well developed, clear communication and interpersonal skills that maintain a respectful, professional and courteous manner

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
