We're partnering with a national retailer in search of a skilled Data Engineer. This role is pivotal for someone keen on leveraging Google Cloud Platform to craft and manage sophisticated data ingestion and pipeline operations. It's all about blending the art of design with the science of programming to meet business demands, following a strict blueprint of technical architecture specifications. You'll be the go-to for both setting up new processes and keeping the gears smoothly turning on existing ones.
What You'll Do:
- Craft and fine-tune data workflows, ensuring they fit both what's needed and what's possible, given the specs.
- Be a self-starter who's comfortable working solo or as part of a team, always keeping everyone from your teammates to the top brass in the loop.
- Draw up the blueprints that will guide the creation of robust data pipelines.
- Dive into coding and configuring tools to bring technical solutions to life.
- Flex your SQL muscles to sift through databases, pulling out the info needed for analysis or to squash any bugs.
- Own the development, testing, and rollout plans, putting your skills to the test across various testing stages and documenting what you find.
- Take on projects, big or small, managing everything from a single aspect to the whole enchilada.
- Offer estimates and track your time like a pro, helping keep budgets and financial forecasts accurate.
- Review solutions and code, lending your expertise to project and support teams alike.
- Stick to the highest security and development standards, suggesting improvements along the way.
Must-Haves:
- A solid foundation in Google Cloud technologies, including Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Dataform, and Cloud Storage.
- Experience getting data into BigQuery and orchestrating workflows with Cloud Composer.
- Proficiency in GitHub and SQL.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with Cloud Data Fusion and connecting to various DBMS (like SQL Server, DB2, Oracle).
- Skills in utilizing RESTful APIs, SOAP Web Services, and integrating with Google's suite of resources, databases, and services.
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
