Corporate and Litigation Counsel

One of the largest consumer specialty finance organizations seeks a Corporate & Litigation Counsel for a contract-to-hire role. Role is full-time 40 hours/week during standard business hours and is 100% REMOTE (can be done from any US location). You will perform a wide range of legal functions, such as handling pre-suit matters, managing litigation matters (e.g. defense of consumer claims, B2B disputes, and some employment litigation) and outside counsel; drafting responses to regulators; reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts; providing guidance to HR, and, as needed, perform various other legal tasks, such as legal research and legal projects. Role requires 3-15 years of relevant commercial law experience in a law firm environment; specifically, experience with B2B litigation and contract review/drafting.

Responsibilities

 Manage certain litigation matters being handled by outside counsel by coordinating and
directing and driving sophisticated and complex case strategy, partnering with outside counsel
to draft/edit pleadings, review, revise, and complete discovery, performing legal research as
necessary, interview, and prepare witnesses for depositions and trial, and negotiating
settlements.
 Assist members of the Legal Department in administration of various litigation and corporate
matters, discovery projects, document review, and legal research on a variety of issues,
including compliance and regulatory matters.
 Assist legal management in the development of policies and procedures to mitigate corporate
risk.
 Review of business/commercial contracts.
