The ideal candidate will have an understanding of medical billing processes and insurance claim submission. Responsibilities
- Claims Submission: Prepare and submit accurate and complete insurance claims for both insurance billing and direct patient billing to various payers, including private insurance companies, government programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid), and third-party payers, adhering to established billing guidelines and regulations along with ongoing patient billing
- Claims Follow-Up: Monitor and track the status of submitted claims, identify and resolve claim rejections, denials, and discrepancies, and initiate appeals when necessary to maximize reimbursement.
- Patient Billing: Generate patient statements, accurately reflecting services rendered and applicable insurance payments, and assist patients with billing inquiries, payment plans, and financial assistance options.
- Payment Posting: Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the billing system, reconciling with expected reimbursements and identifying discrepancies for resolution for both inpatient and outpatient services
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts receivable balances, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate account aging and reporting.
- Communication: Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, third-party carriers, insurance companies, patients, and internal departments to process correspondence, maintains patient files, address billing-related issues, clarify information, and expedite claims processing.
