responsibilities:
The company is currently in search of a Materials Lab Technician to join the Aerospace Transparencies polyurethane research team. The individual's primary responsibility will be materials lab sample preparation, quality testing, formulation, and data analysis in support of the new product development and scientific R&D activities for the transparencies team. Person should also demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, ability to work well in a team, independently seek solutions, and ask questions as needed.

• Build and create lab samples, laboratory qualification work
• Setting up reaction equipment, handle chemical reagents
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory, ordering laboratory supplies, lab equipment maintenance
• Work closely with supervisory chemist who will proved instructions regarding reactions and procedures
• Successful candidate will be responsible for prioritizing their daily tasks and maximizing productivity
• Report results (charts, graphs, tables, reports) in a timely manner to meet project requirements
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed

 
qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a relevant technical field, such as Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or an Engineering discipline with a strong background in chemistry, or
• Associate's degree or technical training in a scientific field, or
• A high school education with high school chemistry and 2 years of relevant industrial experience,
• Mechanical, mathematical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills are required,
• Previous laboratory experience is preferred
• Some experience in a lab setting and analytical work is preferred.
• Proven ability with hands-on activity
• Demonstrates strong communication skills and asking questions and seeking information where needed.
• Capability of operating and guiding others in use of analytical equipment necessary for job.
• Demonstrates a desire to take on new projects and supports where needed
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a complex, fast-changing, deadline-driven environment.
• Organizational skills related to experimental design and project management.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
