responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing with national responsibility for category management, strategic sourcing, procurement and contracting activities for assigned categories. General category assignments are in indirect (non-medical) products and services, and may include: facilities and engineering, utilities and energy, food and nutrition, environmental services, furniture, fixtures and equipment, security, travel, print and document management, supply chain and warehousing, among other spend categories. Develop and implement a sourcing management strategy for these assigned categories. Identify, develop and manage supplier relationships. Effectively negotiate contracts and long term procurement agreements. Develop and propose metrics to analyze supplier total cost and value

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for performing all sourcing/procurement activities for the assigned categories.

  • Develops and implements a sourcing management strategy for these categories assigned.

  • Identifies, develops and manages supplier relationships.

  • Effectively negotiates contracts and long term procurement agreements.

  • Develops and proposes metrics to analyze supplier total cost.

  • Participates in the change management programs to establish processes and procedures.

  • Responsibilities impact the achievement of integrated functional and company objectives.

  • Influences the development of the functional and company objectives.

  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve functional and company objectives and negatively affects expenditures and resources.

  • Involves a high degree of interpretation and analysis of obscure or inconclusive data.

  • Requires a high level of judgment and risk taking to make appropriate decisions for diverse, sophisticated, and undefined issues.

  • Requires significantly complex decision-making.

  • Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity, which require a high degree of ingenuity and innovation, using independent judgment to accomplish objectives.

  • Requires in-depth analysis to develop and implement unprecedented solutions for more complex problems.

  • Sourcing Manager will manage client relationships with internal senior management.

  • As the sourcing expert, incumbent will be expected to take the leadership/consulting role in executing sourcing strategies. Incumbent will manage relationships with senior management of supplier organizations, including a leadership role in the negotiations effort with suppliers.

  • Assignments are often self initiated and virtually self supervisory.

  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives.

  • Review and analysis of key events by senior management are critical to the completion and attainment of objectives and goals.

  • Provides on-going coaching, enabling team members to develop and improve skills and capabilities that support the effectiveness of the department/function.

  • Serves as a technical/professional mentor to team members.

  • Provides performance input and recommendations to management for development/training plans and/or performance reviews.

  • May have formal supervisory responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications:

  • 7 years experience in a combination of purchasing, materials management, warehouse operations, goods and services contracting, construction contracting, finance or other related areas.

  • Experience in employing strategic souring methodology.

  • Experience in large contract negotiations.

  • Health care or retail experience preferred.

  • Experience working in a project based and unionized environment is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, operations research, materials management, economics or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience required. Master's degree preferred.

  • Professional certification such as C.P.M. or APICS preferred.
Top (3) Required Skills Candidate Should Have:

  • The Category Manager is responsible for all national sourcing activities for assigned categories (Hardware, Software, Telecommunications, and Cloud and aaS Technologies).

  • Develops and implements a sourcing management strategy for these assigned categories.

  • Develops and manages supplier relationships.

  • In collaboration with Legal function, effectively negotiates contracts.

  • Develops and propose strategy metrics to analyze supplier total cost.

  • Hardware, Software, Cloud Hosting, Telecommunication category skillsets Is this worker
Remote If remote, will they need to go into the office at some point (i.e. will they need to be remote but close to the office) Open to Remote - Needs to be in CA, CO, OR, WA
