Metallurgy Supervisor

job summary:
Our client in Greeneville TN- a world leading manufacturer of aerospace and automotive- is seeking a direct hire Metallurgy Supervisor to join their team. Robust relocation package available along with lucrative annual profit sharing bonus.

The right candidate will have at least 4 years of experience working in the field as a Metallurgy specialist, is extremely organized and analytical, and will have an educational background that supports this line of work. They will also have at least 2 years of management experience as this role will be directly supervising lab personnel.

responsibilities:

• Supervise metallurgical lab employees.
• Make investigation and complete metallurgical reports on materials connected with field failures and product development.
• Make and/or cooperate with Engineering on the material specifications involving new products and revision of existing products.
• Establish metallurgical process standards for the processing of components in metallurgical processes and heat treat.
• Maintain quality performance of metallurgical and metallurgical related processes by quality checks of both components and processes.
• Assist inspection department in maintaining quality of purchased parts by performing quality checks on purchased materials.
• Conduct test on new or revised metallurgical and heat treat processes and equipment until desired product is achieved.
• Review manufacturing methods, processes, equipment, and major repair of existing equipment for new and existing products in conjunction with purchasing department and engineering.
• Provide other technical activities as may be requested by other department heads.
• Staffing the Metallurgical Department and developing personnel to assure maximum continuing effectiveness of metallurgical operation.
• Review the performance of all metallurgical personnel and make changes in status in conformance with the company policy and procedures.

Determine capabilities of suppliers to produce parts to company specifications

REQUIREMENTS

• Four year degree in Metallurgy or a related field.
• 3 to 4 years experience working in the field.
• Excellent Knowledge of computers
• Good communication skills and a team player
