Payroll Specialist

A strong and supportive community, the Barona Tribe is proud of its independence and self-reliance. The reservation features its own museum, school, fire station, gas station, church, museum, and community center located East of San Diego is looking for temporary support in its Payroll department, for a payroll specialist. The payroll specialist will perform payroll duties involved in all aspects of the preparation of biweekly payroll and monthly per capita payroll and performs accounting-related duties as assigned.

salary: $27 - $32 per hour
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 4 PM
education: Associate

Responsibilities

Works Independently to manage all aspects of payroll-related processes and is responsible for in-house bi-weekly payroll and monthly per capita payments using a complex software system.

Processes semi-annual and annual bonuses including manual check preparation.

Responsible for preparation and submittal to agencies of Fed, State, and Local taxes using web-based upload and or electronic payment systems.

Ensures accuracy of payroll reports and resolves discrepancies relaying information to any agencies as necessary.

Responsible for year-end reports including w-2 and submission to agencies and delivery to employees.

Responsible for the preparation of deduction reports ex: 401K/Roth and employer match as
well as FSA deduction reporting and submission to vendors on a bi-weekly/monthly basis.
Creates custom reports for financial data as requested and analyzes reports for accuracy

Partners with Human Resources to ensure all benefit-related items are accurate and processed in a timely manner.

Partners with Grant Writer to prepare and analyze financial reports and contracts for all grant related
items.

Researching backup data and reconciling to accounting software and grant contracts.
