Qualified candidate must be able to pass an AWS welding test in the 3G and 4G unlimited position using FCAW to be a certified welder.
Knowledge of AWS weld symbols is required. Should have the ability to recognize and use the correct WPS for the process and joint design that will be welded.
- Operate cutting and heating torches.
- Complete understanding of pre-heat functions
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal products according to blueprint and layout specifications.
- Ability to properly fit mill to bear parts such as stiffeners, base plates, and other components
- Ability to accurately perform complex heat corrections while adhering to procedures with no supervision.
- Ability to check camber, sweep tolerances of beams and other steel shapes
- Set up complex jigs or assemblies
- Must be able to set-up and use track torch.
- Weld materials to conform to specified dimensions, standards, and Weld Procedure Specifications.
- Ability to Read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints with emphasis on welding details
