Job Details:
Title: Sr. Piping Designer
Location: 2502 Sheldon Road Channelview TX 77530
Type: – 6 month
Top Must-Have Skills
1. Piping Design In-Plant Experience- should be able to independently design packages, cradle to grave (including FEL packages).
2. Extensive knowledge of Design/ Drafting technology. Proficient in design using AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Acrobat DC, CADWorx.
3. QA/QC experience (checking packages and others’ work).
4. Targeting around 12-15 years industry relevant experience.
Preferred:
Experience with generating package man-hour estimates.
Piping designers with in-plant petrochemical experience. Individuals should be able to “hit the ground running” for cradle to grave package design including FEL. Plant 3D, AutoCAD, CADworx required. S3D would be a highly valuable skill to have, but not a deal breaker for the right candidate who is ready to learn the software.
Basic Function
The Sr. Piping Designer safely performs routine to difficult design assignments, requiring proficiency in drafting techniques, procedures, knowledge of applicable industry/ design codes and standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
Independently develops complete, quality, on time and on budget design packages with very little or no direction.
Prepares all related package deliverables from scratch or modifies existing material- including engineering deliverables like P&ID, ISO’s, equipment specification sheets etc. in consultation with the primary engineering resource(s).
May assist in preparing man-hour estimates for future work and for changes in design.
Is able to independently plan and work Front End Loading (FEL), Expense as well as larger Capital Projects.
May coordinate within and Contractor/ local and Global Resources independently and or lead a team, research information, obtain quotes, prepare BOMs etc.
May check (and takes the responsibility for) the work of self and other Designers and Drafters. QA/QC function.
Assures project and company procedures are followed.
Supports field assignments as required- including field validations (walk-downs), verifying existing equipment for design or records verification.
Keeps supervisor informed of progress.
May participate in client/ vendor partner presentations and or other meetings as needed.
Skills
Extensive knowledge of Design/ Drafting technology. Proficient in design using AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Acrobat DC, CADWorx.
Able to work both independently and cooperatively with others in a team environment.
Must be able to perform the functions of lower/ higher classifications based on business needs.
In-plant “resident” design experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge in advanced/ modern tools such as SPID, S3D is a plus.
Knowledgeable in the use of Laser Scanning Technology to design packages is a plus.
Previous experience in coordinating design with overseas/ global resources is a plus.
Previous Turn-Around Design/ Event support experience is a plus.
