Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Psychiatric provides comprehensive nursing care to individuals with mental health and psychiatric conditions. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. This role requires a compassionate, detail-oriented professional skilled in managing complex mental health conditions and delivering high-quality care in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status evaluations, risk assessments, and health histories.
- Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Medication Management: Administer medications and monitor their effects, ensuring adherence to treatment plans and addressing side effects or adverse reactions.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, and patient education.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Continuously monitor patients’ mental health status, progress, and response to treatment; adjust care plans as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and address complex needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Patient and Family Support: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies; provide emotional support and resources.
- Crisis Management: Respond effectively to psychiatric emergencies and provide de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Compliance: Adhere to all applicable standards, regulations, and organizational policies related to psychiatric care and nursing practice.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [Insert State/Country].
- Experience: Previous experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing preferred.
- Skills: Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage challenging behaviors; proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
