Description:
- The analytical chemist will perform laboratory-based analyses in support of manufacturing and foreign/extraneous matter investigations, product quality complaint investigations, and suspect/counterfeit drug product authentication.
- The candidate will utilize near-infrared, mid-infrared, and Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, and liquid chromatography, in addition to other techniques.
- The candidate will be responsible for documenting all laboratory work and maintaining all instrumentation and equipment in a GMP compliant manner using electronic notebooks and logbooks.
- The candidate will also be responsible for authoring final investigation reports summarizing their analytical activities and the interpretation of the data generated, interacting with customers and stakeholders, and providing written and oral communications to them relating to the investigations they are supporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Author and issue final investigation reports which summarize analytical procedures utilized, observations, and interpretations of the data produced.
- Perform routine maintenance, upkeep, and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation including spectrometers (IR, NIR, UV-Vis, Raman), microscopes, and liquid chromatographs.
- Provide analytical support for manufacturing and foreign/extraneous matter investigations, product quality complaint investigations, and authentication of suspect/counterfeit drug product.
- Produce GMP compliant documentation for all analytical activities within the laboratory.
Key Requirements:
- Able to work independently and solve problems with minimum supervision.
- Basic skills in Statistical data analysis.
- Experience in a GMP setting is highly desirable.
- A bachelors or masters level degree in chemistry, pharmaceutical/chemical engineering, or related science.
- 3-6 years of relevant experience for bachelors degree, or 0-3 years for masters, in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
- Basic laboratory skills and research experience in physical and/or analytical chemistry.
- Experience with most Microsoft Office applications.
- Good time management and communication skills.
