We are a small family owned painting company that works primarily on high end homes in South Haven. If you would like to learn the trade of painting mixed in with some small carpentry jobs and other similar tasks this is a great opportunity. You will work directly with the owners of Ransom Brothers who have a combined 70 years of experience. We are happy to train a motivated, trustworthy, detail oriented, positive individual. We pride ourselves on doing top notch work and expect our employees to strive for a high level of workmanship as well. For the right person there is plenty of room for moving up into more responsible role.
This job will involve working with ladders, scaffolding, roofs, lifts etc, so you will need to be able and willing to deal with heights and lift moderately heavy objects. We strive for safety and have a great safety track record which we intend to continue, so we use all precautions and train as needed in order to comply with MIOSHA rules for fall protection etc.

During the summer months much of our work is outside, so if you enjoy the outdoors, this may be the job for you. You will be exposed to heat and moderate cold. During the colder months (below freezing) we work indoors.
We work Monday thru Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm with a 1/2 hour lunch break.
The majority of our work is in the residential repaint market.
Experience is not required (but welcome)
Getting to work on time and ready to actually start working at 8 am is very important, attention to detail, and being a self starter are a must. If you are looking for a job where working hard is rewarded and appreciated, this could be the job for you. If you are looking for an easy paycheck with minimal effort, please keep looking elsewhere.
Reliable transportation is a must.
Must be 18 or older.
We train on-site. We also strip wallpaper, power wash & stain decks as well as all interior/exterior work. Any experience in the trades can be a plus.
Experienced painters are encouraged to apply as well.
Pay is negotiable based on experience, willingness to learn and work hard, your level of drive and other factors. really makes us put a pay range, but your pay could vary depending on many factors and is not limited by the range shown.
Responsibilities
- Cover up and cleanup.
- Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
- Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster)
- General labor involved in completing painting jobs
- Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools
- Apply paint, stain, varnish and other finishes
- Set up and move ladders, planks and other heavy objects
- This job involves hard work and hustle, there is basically no downtime, so expect to keep moving for the entire shift minus lunch and breaks.
Skills
- Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.
- You will be expected to perform your tasks at the high level that we expect from ourselves, to the best of your abilities.
