Rappahannock Oyster Co is a century-old, family-owned oyster farm based in Topping, VA. Our oysters are featured in some of the world's greatest restaurants. In addition, our efforts in promoting a sustainable foodways have earned us numerous awards and countless features on popular TV shows (eg, the TODAY Show, Emeril, Strange Inheritance) and in print (eg, Food & Wine, New York Times, Washington Post, People). Our team is extremely talented and highly motivated and comes to work each day eager to shatter expectations and break new ground. We are looking to add a new member to the team, someone who is curious, energetic, and self-motivated. The ideal candidate will have basic handy-man skills (simple carpentry, plumbing and electrical - nothing professional required) and possibly some mechanical skills (simple boat and equipment maintenance). This person should have an eagerness to remove obstacles and risks from the workflow and strive to enhance speed and efficiency while ensuring safety. Constant innovation is a core principle of the company, and so the ideal candidate will be someone who likes to problem solve and is always looking to improve a situation. Both full-time and part-time/seasonal opportunities are available.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting the Facility Coordinator in any capacity needed
- Performing routine care and maintenance on equipment, boats, and vehicles
- Performing simple carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical
- Building and repairing aquaculture cages
- Assisting with building and repairing aquaculture grow-out systems that are in the water
Qualifications:
- Must have basic handy-man skills (simple carpentry, plumbing, and electrical) or a capacity to learn
- Must have good communication skills
- Must also have a valid driver’s license
- Should enjoy working outside
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
