RVCC has openings for New Student Orientation Group Leader within the Student Life Department. Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Student Engagement, with additional supervision from the Department's Administrative Assistant, Assistant Director and Director, the New Student Orientation Group Leader performs a variety of duties related to the planning and implementation of the new student orientation program.
Essential Duties:
Assisting the Student Life Department in preparation and implementation of New Student Orientation.
Providing tours to new students at Orientation programs.
Mentoring and serving as a resource for new students during Orientation programs.
Assisting the Student Life Department in promoting and marketing new student orientation.
Representing the college and serving as a role model student to new students at Orientation.
Other duties, appropriate to the skills and abilities, as assigned by authorized Student Life personnel.
Full-time or Part-time RVCC student or recent graduate.
Ability to learn and apply college policies and procedures when performing the job duties.
Ability to prioritize and pay attention to detail; Quick learner.
Able to manage priorities, deadlines, and tasks in order to meet deadlines and accomplish goals.
Ability to multitask and work independently.
High degree of dependability, punctuality and flexibility.
Professional attitude.
Friendly and courteous demeanor.
Must be able to deal with distractions and new or different situations.
Must have strong interpersonal, communications and customer service skills and enjoy working with people.
Ability to speak before large groups of students.
The starting rate is $15.00 per hour.
Employment will run from July 2024 - August 2024. - Group Leaders are expected to attend several hours (~6-8 hours) of training and/or planning sessions scheduled during the work week (Monday - Friday), which will be scheduled as needed. Group Leaders are expected to work full 7.5-hour days on the orientation dates to facilitate each of the Orientation sessions: Tuesday, 7/30th - 8:30am to 3:30pm Thursday, 8/8th - 8:30am to 3:30pm Tuesday, 8/20th - 8:30am to 3:30pm. Total hours worked will most likely not exceed 33 hours for Summer 2024.
