What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler/Packaging position at Rassey?
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our team at Rassey Industries. The Material Handler will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of the shop by ensuring the timely and accurate movement of materials needed for production. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of CNC Machine shop operations and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Material Movement: Safely and efficiently move raw materials, components, finished products, Scrap Bins, and Chip hoppers within the CNC machine shop using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other designated equipment. Must possess a chauffeur’s license to drive company truck for transporting parts locally.
2. Job Reporting, Inspection and documentation: Perform Raw material receiving inspection and in-process inspection of blank saw cutting. Record quantity of completed saw cut bins from Saw Department, input the numbers on paper and on ERP system. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
3. Loading, Unloading and Staging: Load and unload materials from delivery trucks, ensuring proper handling and storage. Operate overhead crane to unload, move and stack raw material. Verify the accuracy of incoming shipments and report any damaged or missing items. Fulfill production orders by accurately picking and staging materials for CNC machining processes. Ensure that materials are delivered to the appropriate workstations in a timely manner.
5. Organizing and Storage: Organize and maintain an orderly storage system for materials. Ensure that materials are stored in designated locations and labeled appropriately for easy retrieval.
6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling materials and operating equipment. Report any safety concerns or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, machine operators, and other departments to ensure a seamless flow of materials throughout the manufacturing process.
8. Participate in 5S: The material handler must participate in 5S activities to ensure cleanliness and efficiency of the organization. The 5S activity entails sorting, sweeping, mopping, using degreaser and shop rags to ensure the work area, machine surroundings, forklifts, and the machines are clean.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in material handling or warehouse operations.
- Forklift certification.
- Operation of Overhead Crane.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
