We are always looking for the next great consultant to raise the bar and push Rational Consulting to be better than we were yesterday. Staying hungry, curious, and looking forward to what’s next is part of our DNA.
We are currently looking for a Design Project Manager to join our tech client in Redmond. This is a contract position that will be remote until further notice.
The client’s store is one of the largest resellers of digital products on a worldwide basis and is enjoying significant growth. The store is developing into a center of e-commerce excellence for the company and is strategically establishing direct relationships with consumers.
To fuel this continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Design PM to drive the timely delivery of the Web Framework V2 design system. The role wears many hats and requires working closely with program managers, engineering (front end devs and back end devs), UX designers, operations, and marketing. The successful candidate will be great at project management – proactively planning for projects, mitigating risks, measuring and reporting on progress, anticipating and resolving bottlenecks, providing escalation management, and actively anticipating and making tradeoffs as appropriate. We are looking for someone who is highly analytical with strong organization and communication skills. Experience working closely with creative teams on atomic design systems is a must.
What You Will Do:
- Create and maintain project schedules, and ensure teams are on track with their deliverables.
- Own metrics and reporting, including data analysis and capacity management.
- Identify risks in advance and drive the team towards successful resolution before the risks turn into fires.
- Facilitate collaborative and effective communication between team members.
- Manage design team and ensure completion of milestone deliverables and goals through all phases of development.
- Collaborate with production staff to capture key learnings and evolve production process.
- Special projects as needed.
What You Will Bring:
- 5+ years of experience as a producer, program manager, project manager or designer in an agile environment.
- Experience managing designers.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple competing deliverables.
- Strong skills in Excel, project tracking tools such as Azure DevOps (preferred), Smartsheet and Slope among others. Microsoft Teams experience a plus.
- Working knowledge of web design libraries and creative design tools.
- Self-starter that can operate efficiently within ambiguous situations.
- History of successful conflict resolution and experience facilitating trade-off discussions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from creative stakeholders.
- E-Commerce and UX experience is a plus.
Who You Are:
- Well-rounded Professional. You have amazing communication and organizational skills along with high EQ.
- Self-sufficient. You get stuff done, you are able to work with little direct supervision but know when to ask for help.
- Collaborative to the Core. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, as a leader and member.
- Adaptable. Change happens at lightning speed (especially at Rational), you are flexible, enjoy challenge, and get behind new ideas
