Job Summary
This job is full-time with the shift beginning at 6:45am ET - 3:15pm ET on M-F.
Operations Manager
We are looking for a professional Operations Manager to plan, direct and coordinate all organizational operations. You will be responsible for improving performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. You will manage a small team of machine operators and other direct reports.
This person should also have a strong production background. Along with experience supervising a team of 5 or more individuals, the candidate should be able to efficiently direct and coordinate all organizational production. Responsibilities will include improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. This individual will also train new employees on the production aspects of the operation.
An important aspect of this role is seeking maximum value for the company through time and cost efficiencies, while focusing on meeting production requirements.
Another important quality for the candidate to possess for this job is a mechanical inclination. A person should have machine operating experience and/or possess the capability and willingness to operate / troubleshoot the machines on a regular basis. This person would be able to get to know the machines and feel comfortable identifying problems and repairing them when needed or communicating the problems that would require attention from a professional mechanic.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure that all products are manufactured in a correct, cost effective and timely manner, in alignment with specifications and quality requirements.
- Improve operational systems, processes and best practices that guarantee organizational well-being.
- Purchase materials, plan inventory and ensure warehouse efficiency.
- Contribute towards the achievement of company’s strategic and operational objectives.
- Perform quality controls and monitor production KPI’s.
- Recruit, train, supervise and appraise human resources.
- Interface with senior management to plan and prioritize production activities.
- Review planned orders, create requisitions for purchased items and manage approval process.
- Transmit and prioritize approved purchase orders and provide supporting documents to/from suppliers.
- Track order acknowledgement, prepare and communicate shortages and backlog reports, and provide visibility of potential interruptions to internal customers.
- Track orders and confirm system lead times, delivery dates and costs.
- Review updates and maintain purchase orders until completion.
- Ensure orders adhere to supplier agreements and contracts and report non-conformance.
- Identify opportunities and implement actions to achieve efficiencies.
- Contribute to consolidation, reduction, and rationalization of the local supplier base.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
- Enhance organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Qualifications and Skills
- BS degree in operations management or related field
- Proven work experience as a manager or supervisor in a related field
- Adequate knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
- Willingness and ability to work with and understand/manage machinery to maintain production standards and schedules
- Budget development and oversight experience
- Familiarity with business and financial principles and practices
- Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting and metrics.
- Basic IT skills (Databases, Microsoft Office Suite applications, etc.)
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
- Leadership and organizational skills
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Excellent people and communication skills (written, presentation and verbal)
- Strong negotiations experience
- Team oriented
Experience:
- Operations Related Managerial / Supervisory Experience: 3 years (Required)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience (Required)
