Ravenscroft 5th Grade Science Teacher; (full time, beginning August 2022)
Ravenscroft School is an all gender independent day school in Raleigh, NC, with approximately 1,205 students enrolled in grades preschool through 12th grade.

As a 5th Grade Science Teacher at Ravenscroft, here is what you get to do:
The experienced teacher should bring energy and passion for teaching science to fifth grade students. They should utilize a balanced approach and strive to support the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of children. They should be innovative, forward-thinking, and growth-minded. Other responsibilities and necessary competencies include the following:
- Provide classroom instruction that is student-centered and differentiated to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Familiarity with current trends in science and STEM-based education, such as best practices according to NSTA and the Next Generation Science Standards.
- Provide classroom instruction that is aligned with current best practices and is student-centered
- Attend science department meetings to ensure alignment with both the MS and the US.
- Participate in the work of the department on curriculum development and create vertical alignment with fourth and sixth grades.
- Demonstrating cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and parents
- Understand the development of fifth grade students and display a passion for working with this age group
- Participate in other aspects of the School community (i.e. advising a student club, athletics, committees)
- Have a sense of humor
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, science or STEM education required, MS or MEd highly desirable; previous experience teaching science; experience in an independent school setting preferred.
