What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Raw Advantage?
Raw Advantage (a member of the Bright Pet Family) is looking for a Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing facilities in Salem, OR. The technician will maintain facilities and equipment in our three freeze-dry, frozen and packaging facilities in the Salem/Aumsville area.

Main duties include:
- Maintenance planning, scheduling, and work execution..
- Maintain appropriate equipment records and history.
- Inspect, repair, replace, adjust, install, wire and maintain all equipment in the plants including structural, crane, mobile equipment, hydraulics, freeze drying, refrigeration, pneumatics, plumbing, and piping maintenance.
- Manage spare parts and materials inventory.
- Use various tools, including but not limited to precision tools, drill press, power saw, grinders, threaders, pipe cutters drills, pullers, hoists, wrenches, etc.
- Ensure environmental and safety compliance of the maintenance department and plant equipment/machinery.
- Follow preventative schedule to keep equipment operating properly.
- Follow facility GMPs, using correct PPE
- Safe operation of industrial equipment such as forklifts, hoists, etc.
- Understand and follow procedures for USDA, FDA, OSHA, DNR.
- Troubleshoot, monitor equipment and general maintenance and repair
- Keep a clean and organized work area, sanitation of the working area
- Assisting maintenance team and onsite contractors.
- Follow facility GMPs, using correct PPE
- Safe operation of industrial equipment such as forklifts, hoists, etc.
- Understand and follow procedures for USDA, FDA, OSHA, DNR.
Successful candidates must have:
- Experience with hydraulics, bearings, electrical, pneumatics, mechanical repair.
- Experience filling out work orders and preventive maintenance orders.
- Ability to accurately follow directions and perform tasks according to a generated work order.
- Must be able to lift objects weighing 70 lbs. or more and/or frequent lift/carry 50 lbs. or more, the employee must be able to work from all heights, including from a ladder, and be able to work in tight spaces.
- Ability to work independently – self-reliant with minimal supervision
- Working later hours if needed/come in earlier if needed/being on call
- Ability to correctly use hand and powered tools, electric meters, etc.
- Ability to follow safe work practices and support safety goals and objectives, following all rules and regulations.
- Frequent movements include walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing, squeezing through tight areas, and other active movements.
- 1 year of experience in maintenance manufacturing environment preferably in a food/packaging production facility
- Must be able to lift objects weighing 70 lbs. or more and/or frequent lift/carry 50 lbs. or more, the employee must be able to work from all heights, including from a ladder, and be able to work in tight spaces.
- Flexibility to work a variety of schedules, overtime as needed
- Working knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, E-Mail)
- Food safety knowledge/experience
- Experience with forklift driving and scissors lift operating.
