MEP Project Estimator

Ray & Son Mechanical (Contractors) is a full-service commercial mechanical contractor serving clients in multiple states. Our team consists of HVAC-R, Plumbing, and Electrical crews. We typically maintain a full-time workforce of 40 to 45 people, depending on our workload at the time. Our staff is very dedicated to what they do and are in it "for the long haul." The average employee has 10 or more years of service with our company. We currently have an immediate opening for an experienced MEP Project Estimator to join our growing team!

***This is a hybrid position that would require the applicant to be able to commute to our Valdosta or Nashville locations, or possibly be interested in relocating. This position could require some out-of-state travel that is paid for by the company.***

Pay Range:$100,000 to $130,000 a year, depending on experience

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Estimate projects
• Manage bids from pre-bid to post-award
• Provide detailed recaps to review with management before bidding
• Assist in the development of the project schedule of values and construction tasks
• Attend bid walks and/or bid meetings
• Assist project managers with change order estimating and compilation
• Assist in material pricing and buyout
• Assist field management in various support operations
• Maintain a record of individual bids with win/loss records
• Work with upper management to assist in developing bidding strategies
• Other various tasks assigned by upper management

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project estimation
• Ability to perform material and labor takeoffs to identify material quantities, labor hours, and cost
• Competitive trade bids comparison experience
• Ability to assemble and submit proposals directly to clients
• Ability to review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates
• Attention to detail when analyzing blueprints to prepare accurate specific takeoffs
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) as conversions
• Excellent knowledge of Electronic Takeoff Systems (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Builder Trend, etc.)
• Intermediate or Advanced experience with the computer
• Ability to work independently and know when to consult other members of the team
• Excellent communication skills (written/verbal)
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
