Iber Holmes Gove Middle School is Raymonds grade 4 - 8 school with a student population of 430 /-. We are a team based school with five grade level teams and a unified arts team. Each grade level team is made up of four to five classroom teachers and a special education case manager. IHGMS has a wide variety of unified arts classes that all students have access to.
They include art, band, chorus, computers, family & consumer sciences, general music, health, physical education, technology, and world languages.Our World Languageteacher will be a member of the Unified Arts team and will teach introductory world languages to students in grades 4-7 and high school bearing credit classes in world languages in 8th grade.IHGMS is actively engaged in implementing a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for both academics and behaviors. Along with core academics and unified arts our schedule includes an intervention & enrichment period. Our goal is to have 80% of our students master their grade level standards in reading and math through a competency based education system. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with Raymond School District Policies.QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED): The classroom teacher will meet all qualifications and behavior standards as set by the State of New Hampshire authority. In accordance with certification requirements and the performance expectations of the Raymond Public Schools, all classroom teachers shall meet the following employment criteria.The minimum of a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.A valid New Hampshire Teachers Certificate (applicable level-area endorsements preferred.)A completed credential file that meets Raymond Public School standards.Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education.Interview/file data will include evidence of sensitivity and respect for others and verification of the demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for youth.Regular and predictable attendance is essential.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to all students in the class;Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students;Adopting and working towards the implementation of the school development plan of the particular school they are giving service in;Assigning work, correcting and marking work carried out by his/her students;Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of ones students;Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and referencesrelating to individual students or groups of students;Participating in arrangements within an agreed national framework for the appraisal of students performance;Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual students, groups of students or class entrusted to him/her;Providing guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters andon their further education and future careers; providing information on sources ofmore expert advice;Communicating, consulting and co-operating with other members of the school staff, including those having posts of special responsibility and parents/guardians to ensure the best interest of students;Reviewing and evaluating ones own teaching and learning strategies, methodologies and program/s in line with the National Curriculum Framework guidelines;Advising and co-operating with the Principal, Assistant Principal, Department Heads, and other teachers in the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, and teaching programs;Ensuring high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of the subject/s. Through effective dialogue, participating in reciprocal peer review and observation of class teaching practice by the Head of Department (subject/level) concerned;Participating in In-Service education and training courses as well as in continuing professional development opportunities, and taking part in action research exercises;Maintaining good order and discipline amongst students under ones care and safeguarding their health and safety at all times;Participating in staff, group or other meetings related to the school curriculum, for the better organization and administration of the school;Contributing to the professional development of new teachers and student teachers according to arrangements agreed with the Principal;Providing the necessary information and advice to the designated personnel in the school and/or College and to provide all the necessary information regarding requisitions and arrangements in connection with the teaching of the subject/s assigned to him/her;Ensuring the safe custody and optimum use of equipment normally used by oneself during lessons and sees to its regular servicing and maintenance;Participating in school assemblies;Registering and monitoring the attendance of students under ones care;Sharing in any possible and reasonable way in the effective management, organization, order and discipline of the school;Nurtures a culture where teachers view themselves essentially as facilitators of learning and reflective practitioners;Together with the SPED, developing and implementing the Individual Educational Programme (IEP) of students with Individual Educational Needs and participating in IEP meetings;In the case of students with severe learning difficulties and with communication problems, ensuring that a Contact Book is daily updated with the necessary information including parents signature;Liaising and collaborating with specialist teachers/resource persons and other professionals working with stated students;Making use of technological devices/aides and other adaptations during the delivery of the lessons;At the secondary level, teachers shall be expected to teach students of different levels of achievement. Such teachers will preferably teach not more than two levels unless special circumstances warrant otherwise;OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.Contract Year: 186.5 days for new teachers 185.5 for ongoing teachers days*
