What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Engineer position at Raynor Manufacturing?
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain all control circuits and human machine interfaces.
- Advisor on all PLC applications.
- Responsible for database integration to machines on the plant floor.
- Update controls documentation and standards.
- Work closely with factory employees and supervisory personnel providing Manufacturing Engineering services for assigned production departments.
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering input during product line start-ups and upgrading of existing production facilities.
- Initiate cost reduction proposals in materials and manufacturing processes.
- Submit initial proposal of Capital Expense items in areas assigned.
- Serve as implementation/cost advisor to all continuous improvement suggestions in areas assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires knowledge of National Electric Code and relevant OSHA requirements
- Must have well developed problem / trouble shooting skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and interact with managers, clients, and factory employees.
- Must have a good understanding of PLC systems and the ability to create PLC program code (Rockwell CompactLogix & ControlLogix preferred).
- Must have experience configuring / programming variable frequency drives.
- Should have HMI experience (Rockwell FactoryTalk View ME / SE preferred).
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; SQL Database; CAD Electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical preferred).
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (BA) in an engineering related field from four-year college plus 5 years minimum in a manufacturing engineering environment; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
