What is the opportunity?
The Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) is responsible for the delivery of real estate lending solutions to cross border (Canadian) clients seeking to purchase US property. The MLO is responsible for structuring real estate loans which tend to be complex in nature, often involving business owners and financial statements, sophisticated tax structures and diverse asset allocations.
What will you do?
- Conduct a thorough client interview to obtain all pertinent information within established Service Level Agreement in order to develop the most relevant financing solution and navigate the client through the various steps and timelines to complete the application process.
- Ensure the completeness of all required documentation in Calyx Point in order to satisfy loan structuring requirements and provide the client with a list of required documents based on the specific mortgage situation.
- Evaluate client documents for completeness and accuracy against stated values to complete an accurate income review and determine appropriate lending product and rate in consultation with client and create rate lock request.
- Submit to underwriting with clear recommendation for approval and provide the client with the credit decision and rationale.
- Coordinate involvement of processing team members and engage the appropriate team members per Service Level Agreements.
- Detailed assessment of client’s situation documented in Client Profile in order to determine product type and structure based on client need and applicable RBC Bank Lending and Credit standards.
- Accurate and thorough completion of loan application and negotiate loan terms and interest rates and fees.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor Degree- Major in business, economics, finance, statistics or mathematics preferred with strong real estate lending experience (a minimum of 5 years-experience)
- In depth knowledge of real estate lending products, terms and conditions
- Strong business development orientation and the ability to manage a pipeline of loans and prospects
- Knowledge of securities, investment portfolios, to support asset verification and strong client focus, negotiating skills and decisiveness, results orientation
- Team player and self-motivated with excellent communication – verbal and written
- Experience with complex loan structuring and income analysis
Nice-to-have
- Experience in business/commercial lending, private banking or underwriting preferred
- Bilingual (English/ Cantonese and/or Mandarin)
