RCS Transportation is seeking qualified applicants for a Terminal Rail Supervisor opening for a finished vehicle rail logistics facility in Louisville, KY. Successful applicants must have strong leadership experience, union labor experience and the ability to work the following core schedule:

A Terminal Rail Supervisor shall have direct overall responsibility for the successful performance the company’s automotive finished vehicle transportation and logistics services; as well as all associated personnel within a specific operating location. Terminal Supervisors are to be champions of communicating awareness within their operation in understanding of the connection between customer service and achieving our business objectives. Terminal Supervisors shall be directly engaged in the leadership effort to maintain the safety of the people, compliance with the quality of our processes; and improving the efficiency of service we provide through planning, scheduling and policy enforcement. They are to anticipate external business or operational issues and the potential influence on their operation’s performance; recognizing when something needs to be done and mobilize appropriate resources to accomplish the objective expeditiously. A Terminal Supervisor shall identify their own and others development and training needs—actively engaging to develop theirs and their personnel’s skills and abilities when and where needed. Terminal Supervisors shall strive to inspire a sense of ownership and shared purpose with personnel within all aspects of their operation to maintain a high level of morale.

General Responsibilities:
Safety and Quality
- Safety of employees: enforce operational safety rules, confront safety violations immediately and correct behavior.
- Quality: enforce operational processes compliance with standard operating procedures designed to protect people, product and service.
- Association of American Railroad Audit is an industry audit designed to check the operations compliance with safety and quality procedures; achieve 99% or better compliance score by leading the team members to comply with safety and quality rules.
- Practice management by walking around the operation and engaging with employees at all levels to discover issues or concerns before they affect the performance of the operations.
Financials
- Plan staffing schedule for the operation to meet productivity standard: the proper amount of staff to execute the services within the acceptable timeframe.
- Engage with vendors who supply support services to the location to ensure that they are providing the contracted service on time and within budget.
- Maintain an accurate accounting of equipment and supplies at the location to avoid loss and to conduct regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Reduce or eliminate the cost related to cargo damage claims by enforcing safety and quality rules.
- Reduce or eliminate the cost related to personnel injury claims by enforcing safety and quality rules.
Operations
- Communicate with a network of internal and external entities to develop a synchronized operational schedule to ensure staffing is in place to execute our services on time and within allotted timeframes.
- Lead daily pre-shift briefings that inform the team of the workload for the shift, safety conditions, quality reinforcement, weather conditions and equipment needs.
- Interact, communicate and observe personnel as they are performing their job duties and track performance throughout the course of the day.
- Leverage internal support resources to maintain a high-level operational readiness, such as training, recruiting, technology, payroll, procurement and operational expertise.
- Understand and identify the upstream and downstream processes of the supply chain that influence our operations and make the necessary adjustments to our operation to meet service expectations.
- In the event of a service disruption, have the ability to investigate the circumstances that led to the disruption, develop corrective action measures and implement corrective action measures across all aspects of the operation.
- Complete reporting requirements accurately and on time.
People Development
- Lead the team by way of example.

- Hire employee and develop plans to maintain a high retention rate.

Must Have:
- Experience successfully leading teams of people in a fast paced high intensity environment.
- Willingness to take responsibility of the performance of the personnel and the overall operation.
- Understand and accept that the Supervisor role is not always a fixed schedule, this position is responsible for the performance of the night operation.
- Ability to directly address personnel individually or as a whole when needed to ensure all service expectations are met.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good working knowledge using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Comfortable writing business standard operating process documents to be used in employee training and process execution.

Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent certification
- Ability to use smart device, calculator, copier, fax, computer and email.
- Good working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or chemicals, and outside weather conditions including wet, extreme heat and cold conditions. The associate must traverse surface areas that are uneven, such as pavement with cracks/pot holes, wet or slick areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
