Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use computers to organize and locate inventory, and operate spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Negotiate prices, discount terms, and transportation arrangements for merchandise.
- Confer with sales and purchasing personnel to obtain information about customer needs and preferences.
- Examine, select, order, and purchase at the most favorable price merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors.
- Purchase machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. Purchase raw or semi-finished materials for manufacturing.
- Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine the need for changes.
- Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
- Compile information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials and services.
- Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
- Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessary.
- Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
- Perform buying duties when necessary.
- Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
- Review requisition orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.
- Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports, and price lists.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates in order to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
- Track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders.
- Calculate costs of orders, and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts.

- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
