What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plating Technician position at RDP Development?
Position summary: The Plating Technician performs plating operations, maintains proper plating baths’ chemistry, carries out plating tanks and relevant equipment maintenance, conducts waste water discharge and maintains Plating departments’ documented information.
Reports to: Plating Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Monitor plating bath chemistry, run titrations for analyzes, check tank temperatures, pH. and solution level, make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain logs for chemical additions/ bath changes.
- Setup plating runs; maintain the plating line and change filters as needed.
- Inspect all related tank level sensors, piping, fittings, and pumps for leaks and damage.
- Run parts manually through plating line and monitor plating process for quality results.
- Wafer (brush leaves) handling (standard thickness and thin wafers).
- Visually inspect wafers (brush leaves) pre and post plate using microscopes and digital imaging systems.
- Help with running plating experiments and new plating processes.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly plating and lab area, including proper hazardous chemicals/waste management.
- Carry out bi-weekly and monthly plating tanks maintenance, including dumping, cleaning and preparation of the process baths.
- Adjust pH for waste water and make it ready for discharge.
Qualifications and skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service focus.
- Must understand best practices for safe handling of chemicals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Highly organized.
- Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in managing plating operation and working with plating laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge for process approach, risk management, continuous improvement and ISO 9001 quality management system (preferred).

Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
