We are looking for an Audit Supervisor who is a strong communicator to join our public accounting team to work and travel to clients within the Cleveland, Ohio area. The Audit Supervisor is responsible for understanding the rules, regulations, and code of professional conduct of the AICPA; progressing professionally by working toward passing the CPA exam; familiarity with pronouncements of the FASB and the AICPA; proficiency in preparing financial statements.; obtaining exposure to the various types of financial statement engagements; and assuming responsibility for unaudited financial statement engagements or segments of audits under the supervision of senior-level staff.

Responsibilities include:
- Analyzing complex financial reports and records
- Making recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets and expenditures
- Reviewing journal entries of associates to ensure accuracy
- Training and mentoring junior staff
- Performing variance analyses and preparing account
- Assisting with financial and tax audits
- Assume responsibility for the completion of tax returns
- Obtain a general understanding of pertinent IRC sections and regulations
- Obtain a working knowledge of tax research techniques and the various tax research sources
- Proactively maintains and develops client relationships throughout the year.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3 years experience working in public accounting
- Must have an active CPA license
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, as well as organization and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently on tasks and projects; while also collaborating with peers in a team-oriented environment
- Advanced knowledge of general accounting concepts
- Advanced understanding of complex tax concepts and application to client situations
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in Word and Excel
- Ability to independently identify issues relating to accounting and tax matters
- Strong project management skills
