Reach Academy ESE Lead Classroom Teacher

Not a cookie cutter school. No cookie cutter teachers. Reach Academy needs instructors that think outside of the traditional classroom box. The right candidate has a heart for all learners and a creative approach to instruction that accommodates and supports the needs of atypical learners.

Lead classroom teacher will need to work collaboratively with school directors, teaching staff, and parents to provide individualized instruction for students with special needs and cognitive or developmental delays within a small group setting. Job responsibilities include:

  • creating weekly lesson plans that reflect student learning/behavioral goals
  • reporting to classroom prepared and equipped for the day
  • implementing bests practices for differentiated instruction and individualized assessments
  • providing appropriate accommodations including assistive technology and physical supports
  • communicating professionally with parents
  • documenting student progress towards individualized goals including quarterly report cards
  • supervising / providing direction for instructional support staff
  • working collegially and collaboratively with directors and teaching staff
  • contributing to positive and productive academic environment
  • support school mission to serve atypical learners in an equitable and inclusive environment
  • assisting students with physical hygiene tasks when necessary

Minimum Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in ESE or related field
  • ABA experience or training is a plus
  • 5 years experience in ESE classroom or school setting
  • Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication programs such as Proloquo2Go

Position Specifications

  • 1099 Independent Contractor
  • Nine Month Contract (traditional school year mid August thru May with Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring Breaks
  • Part-time 25 hours a week
  • Monday - Friday 8:45am - 2:00pm

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Jacksonville, FL 32257: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Special education: 5 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Teaching Certification (Preferred)
