- Participates as an advisor, resource specialist, and facilitator of grade level meetings;
- Provides individual and/or group instructional coaching and mentoring to teachers to improve classroom instruction for all learners;
- Provide academic coaching to first year teachers or teachers new to REACH and help them address individual needs in order to increase achievement
- Applies a variety of instructional strategies to facilitate team effectiveness, collaboration, problem solving, leadership, meetingmanagement, and conflict resolution;
- Works collaboratively in planning with teachers, support staff and others as appropriate, in addressing the needs of students andimplementing effective teaching and learning practices;
- Works with grade level teams to develop strong curriculum units in each grade;
- Supports the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the Next Generation State Standards, and develop various assessments tools to measure those Scholar's levels of achieving the standards;
- Assists teachers in understanding REACH Academy Charter School's model and core values;
- Assists teachers with planning and pacing of units/lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of
- the best practices to meet the needs of their students;
- Informally observes lessons (non-evaluative) and provides feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success;
- Models lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis;
- Supports teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels;
- Distributes and manages instructional and classroom materials to teachers;
- Works with administration, and team and/or grade level teachers in planning standard based units of study and assessment aligned to
- REACH Academy Charter School curriculum model;
- Provides appropriate consultation and interventions for students who are at risk and facilitate the identification of students for special education when appropriate;
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of the relevant content areas and skillful application of research-based strategies to provide access to content standards for students at risk;
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of a rich array of instructional approaches, resources, and technologies in the relevant content
- area(s); Demonstrate skills in analyzing and using data for instructional decision-making; especially differentiated instruction for students at risk;
- Performs other duties assigned by the Head of School or Director of Curriculum.
Qualifications/Education and/or Experience
Master's Degree in education or related field required from an accredited institution
- New York Certification required or equivalent
- At least 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience
- History of successful academic coaching is preferred bur not required
- Administrative Certification (SBL/SDL) preferred but not required
- Demonstrated Academic Success on the New York State Assessments or equivalent
- Able to work an eleven month position.
