Overview
Our client is looking to add to their Estimating team! As an Estimator, you will help prepare estimates for assigned construction disciplines by analyzing specifications and contract plans to determine cost-efficient quantities and construction practices to meet pursuit, schedule, and price goals.
What You Will Be Doing
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates.
- Incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc., into unit and person-hour figures.
- Provide technical input regarding project and contract risks to the lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval. Review final estimate to ensure defined work aligns with overall project schedule and cost goals.
- Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of the scope of work. Calculate material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
- Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Monitor client addendum and advise the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
- Assist with design review options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Partner with the estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between the pursuit team and project management team.
- Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
- Maintain knowledge of the company’s values and strategic plan.
- Support published corporate policies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
- 1 year experience in the construction industry, estimating or cost control preferred.
- Beginner knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
- Communication and interpersonal skills for clear and effective support research, recommendations, and pricing.
- Developing technical writing skills.
- Time management and strong prioritization skills to meet tight turnaround and bid deadlines.
