Position Overview:

We are seeking a Data Analytics / Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer, with the possibility to extend into a part time role. The intern will play a key role in analyzing anonymized session data from our website to understand and help improve the user funnel into our onboarding flow, and the onboarding experience. This position is ideal for someone technical with passion about data, analytics, and engineering, and who is eager to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies. 

You will work closely with data engineering and management to implement analytics from query to visualization. You will also get to collaborate with web developers to improve tracking & understand where our blind spots exist. You may do work to onboard new sources of data and reconcile these into the existing data lake.

Requirements:

You are currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret and communicate complex data insights clearly and effectively.

• Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn new technologies and methodologies.

• Comfortable with Python, As a tool for data analysis and ETL processes.
• Understanding of SQL for querying databases.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, BigQuery or similar cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and familiarity with web analytics concepts.
• Version control systems (we use GitHub)

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Google Data Studio.
• Worked with ingesting data from different APIs or data formats.
• Understanding of ETL tools and ways of working using batch or stream processing
• Experience with Google Analytics
• Previous internship or project experience in data analytics or engineering.

Toolset

We run most things on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We write Python and PySpark jobs to ingest & process data into our data lake. We use a mix of PySpark & Google BigQuery to build analytics reports that are then visualized in Apache Superset. We use tools like Apache Airflow & Airbyte to run ingestion of data on a scheduled basis
