POSITION SUMMARY:

As part of a cross functional Engineering team, the Project Engineer is the communication and scheduling link between the OE and our design, tooling, and quality groups.  This position will coordinate and track all activities needed to meet the established timelines and product launch timing for our OE customers. This position will be responsible for the tracking and record keeping for all RFQ activities in the organization.     

CORE FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

Supports the engineering process of OE and Aftermarket projects and products. Monitor daily status of new programs including production, design and technical design Assist in managing required documentation for component approval and bridge with purchasing on procurement and timing.

Produce reports and ideas to colleagues at various stages of the process and modify designs according to feedback. Maintain meeting minutes. Track quote due dates and update quote log and associated files.

Creates part number, BOM, routing creation, ensure program specific packaging specs are communicated for both aftermarket and OE programs.

Manage workflow from initial sketch through final design.

Assist in managing required documentation for component approval and bridge with purchasing on procurement and timing.

Working with design vendors and internal customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Four-year college or university program certificate; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in customer service, related products and product design, preferred.

Required Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License and clear DMV record.

Computer Skills:

Windows (Advanced User), Microsoft Office (SharePoint), Computer Assembly, Computer Troubleshooting – preferred, Traverse ERP preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write complex correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small or large group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Technical skills must be current (used extensively for past three years).

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Travel:

Occasional domestic travel is required. Should not exceed twice a month on a regular basis.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

VISUAL ACUITY:

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
