Position Description
Recast Software empowers organizations to better manage and support users and devices. The Technical Writer position will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of Recast Software’s global and ever-growing customer base. This role is responsible for helping clients garner stronger expertise and success with our suite of products.
What you'll do:
- Organize and design layout of technical information
- Collaborate with document users and product managers to make sure of accuracy, quality, clarity, and effectiveness of documentation
- Write new content in the style that is most suitable for each target audience
- Manage and refine existing content in need of refresh and/or revamp
- Partner with the documentation team members to inventory, organize, and publish content into our content management tools and knowledge base channels
- Build and maintain strong relationships with software engineers and content experts to create correct and complete user documentation
- Participate in planning and scheduling of work efforts
- Schedule and prioritize work efforts to meet deadlines
- Write and update online user guides, how-to articles, release notes, and FAQs
- Create and maintain screenshots, diagrams, and other visual materials
- Edit and review other writers' work
- Work closely with members of the Product team
- Perform other documentation tasks as assigned

- Comfortable with using PC tools and Windows OS, with a knowledge of local and network based file systems
- Experience using online support/CMS/content editing applications (e.g., Salesforce, Confluence, Robohelp, Madcap Flare, etc).
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Communications, Technical Writing, or related field required
- 1-3 years of related experience required
- Writing and editing experience in a technical environment
- Experience writing software documentation for a non-technical audience (User guides, technical specification guides, release notes, etc).
- Experience working as part of an Agile Product team
