Reclaimed is a non-profit Christian organization that partners with communities to bring Gospel hope and sustainable solutions so that every child can be set up to succeed by their community. Reclaimed is committed to building out community support through programs that aid in the holistic development of children and families in high-needs areas. In Mississippi, Reclaimed partners with the Quitman County School District which is a rural Title 1 school district in the Mississippi Delta by assisting in recruiting and retaining certified teachers at no cost to the school district. This is achieved by providing housing, licensure support, classroom support, spiritual development, and connection to the community from our facility in Marks, MS called The Village.

The Quitman County Education Director will work alongside the Reclaimed Marks team to carry out the mission and vision of the Reclaimed Project in Quitman County. This role will lead the Reclaimed Teacher Fellowship Program which includes professional development, support, and mentorship for the teachers participating in the program. This role will also serve as primary liaison between Reclaimed programming and the Quitman County Schools by developing, maintaining, and supporting relationships with educators, school officials, and administration in Quitman County.

The Quitman County Education Director will work directly with the Quitman County Ministry Director to cast-vision, plan, develop, and implement programming in order to develop and support the ministry with educators, students, and their families. The Education Director will also work with other Reclaimed staff to participate in back-end administration and event fundraising and planning.

Duties

The primary job duties and responsibilities of the Quitman County Education Director include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the efforts in recruiting teachers to the Reclaimed Teacher Fellowship.
  • Support the Reclaimed Teacher Fellowship teachers professionally and spiritually.
  • Create sustainable programs and events throughout the school year that aid in the development of our teachers and to serve to support Quitman County Schools, educators, staff, and students.
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools in Quitman County to achieve common goals through strategic alignment.
  • Facilitate educational community events.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and other meetings for strategic planning, ministry initiatives, etc.
  • Participate in planning and executing Reclaimed fundraising events throughout the year.
  • Adhere to the Reclaimed Employee Handbook and other Reclaimed policies.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Experience in education with at least three years in a school district in a teaching or administrative role.
  • An individual who believes in and follows Jesus Christ and lives in a way that represents Christ and His Word.
  • An individual who recognizes and supports the vision and mission of Reclaimed and will represent Reclaimed well in all aspects of ministry.
  • A personal desire to see God save children and families through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • A passion for serving and supporting children and their families.
  • Desire to work in and with the community to problem-solve together.
  • A hardworking and self-directed individual.
  • An individual with a high level of interpersonal skills, strong communication (written and oral), and someone willing and able to work in a fast-paced team setting.
  • A highly motivated person who excels in time management, organization, and initiative.
  • Ability to work well with others on a team, and individually in order to accomplish tasks.

Additional Information

This position is full-time and based in Marks, Mississippi. The candidate is encouraged to reside in Quitman County as this will allow them to serve the teacher fellows as a resident of the community. The candidate for this position should be willing and able to work a flexible schedule during the week based on programming and visiting the schools in the district. This role will work with the Quitman County Ministry Director to set and maintain a reasonable schedule that accomplishes the ministry goals and allows for work/life balance.. The Quitman County Education Director is eligible for full health benefits as described in the Reclaimed Project Employee Handbook.
