MISSION:
The GRAMMY Museum is dedicated to cultivating a greater understanding of the history and significance of music through exhibits, education, grants, preservation initiatives, and public programming.
BACKGROUND:
One key initiative within the GRAMMY Museum Foundation’s (“the Museum”) 2018-2021 Strategic Plan is to build a “digital museum” that digitally scales our impact by expanding programming across all lines of Mission, including; curatorial, education, and public programs. As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we closed our doors to the public and subsequently within 72 hours, accelerated our initiative to build a digital museum. As a result, we created “GRAMMY Museum at Home” to continue delivering on our mission and engaging our members, students, and the public. This rapid response has contributed to rapid growth that necessitates need for the Museum to build a new Digital Media Department to strategize, oversee, and implement our continued digital initiatives. This new Department has an immediate need for an experienced, “jack-of-all-trades” Video Content Producer.
SUMMARY:
The Video Content Producer will serve as the primary, day-to-day creative force behind the Museum’s multimedia (audio/video) content. This role will serve for all aspects of the organization by conceptualizing and creating compelling videos that showcase our impact on society through our educational, curatorial, and community-centric mission. The videos will cover all areas of the organization, such as: educational impact stories, external promotional social videos, exhibit and program marketing videos, artist videos, videos for exhibits, corporate partner deliverables, and other Museum-wide projects.
This is a hands-on position that is responsible for the full life-cycle of video production from pre-production, production, and post-production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Script, storyboard, shoot, edit, and produce enviable, industry-leading videos for the Museum’s social channels, website, OTT platform, and partner websites
- Edit, color-correct, chroma-key, composite, and audio-mix video footage for final publication. This includes post production of live-streamed programs, which undergo editing prior to being posted on our properties as archived videos.
- Create compelling sizzle reels for marketing purposes, Board meetings, programs, and for other purposes
- Budget, allocate resources, set deadlines and select optimal forms of media for projects
- Work independently, as well as part of a team, to establish project deliverables
- Collaborate closely with internal clients and stakeholders to help facilitate the creation of multimedia content
- Plan video shoots; scout, select and reserve shoot locations – mostly done onsite at the GRAMMY Museum at LA Live or at one of our educational programs, such as GRAMMY Camp
- Develop production schedules and select and hire additional crew and talent, if necessary
- Reserve and rent equipment, if necessary
- Record and edit video and sound projects, including selecting program format for final output, capturing/importing media, organizing raw media, editing footage and sound files, creating and inserting static and motion graphics, titling, adding music/voice-over/sfx, media management and archiving project media
- Manage video library on Canto and Iron Mountain
- Evaluate analytics of videos on the Museum’s OTT platform and other channels
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The following are skills required for success within this position:
- At least five (5) years of progressive and creative leadership experience in the areas of video production
- Deep knowledge and sincere love of music, education, and museums
- Bachelor’s degree in media, film/television, cinema, photography, or similar field
- Intermediate to expert level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere
- Intermediate to expert knowledge of OTT platforms, such as Vimeo
- Intermediate to expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Understanding of Iron Mountain cloud storage, Canto, etc.
- Deep understanding of various A/V equipment and technologies
- Understanding of and ability to continuously keep-up with changing digital technology and trends and best practices in the digital and museum space, particularly as it relates to video, motion graphics, and the like
- Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities
- Strong proficiency and desire for data-driven decision making
- Ability and eagerness to thrive in a fast-paced environment with many competing priorities
